The Art of the Mask

Timeless Faces: Evolution and Permanence of Mexican Dances and Masks is an exhibit currently up at Centro de Artes de San Agustin, Oaxaca, Mexico featuring the extensive collection of Rene Bustamante through April 28, 2024.

The masks illustrate the history of Mexico through traditional masks and dances, which are unique to Mexico’s regional cultures. Through the dances, masks trace the history of indigenous cultures of Mesoamerica showing the close ties with nature and the animal world.
